Providing out-of-this-world STEM education in ‘Wondrous Space’
The AMETEK Foundation partnered with The Franklin Institute to develop an immersive exhibition that explores the wonders of space—and the technology that makes it all possible.
For over 30 years, the AMETEK Foundation has proudly partnered with The Franklin Institute (TFI) to help inspire curiosity and STEM learning for its hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. On the eve of TFI’s 200th anniversary, the AMETEK Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to the museum by sponsoring its latest permanent installation, Wondrous Space. Through support from the Foundation, AMETEK is proud to sponsor the Rover Design exhibit—an interactive station where guests can design and test rudimentary exploratory rovers on Mars and other extraterrestrial terrains.
Many of AMETEK’s businesses enable space exploration, including AMETEK Pacific Design Technologies (PDT), whose technologies are on display nearby the Rover Design exhibit. AMETEK PDT produces the very innovations that are used on the exploratory rovers that visitors have the chance to interface with.
The solutions on display from AMETEK PDT played a critical role in multiple successful missions to Mars and the International Space Station. Their technology enables safe, constant thermal management for high-precision equipment, whether it’s on the launchpad, in space, or 34 million miles away on Mars.
Showcasing the wide range of STEM careers and helping to inspire the next generation of problem solvers is why the AMETEK Foundation has been a long-time partner with TFI. TFI is a renowned and innovative leader in the field of science and technology learning. Located in the heart of Philadelphia and reigning as Pennsylvania’s most visited museum, it is dedicated to creating a passion for learning by offering access to hands-on science education. TFI’s new Wondrous Space exhibit aims to feed curiosity about what lies beyond and inspire excitement for future advancements and the endeavors that await.
We hope that this exhibit ignites curiosity in all museum visitors and continues to drive innovation and discovery.
